Last night, after a sumptuous dinner, full of heirloom tomatoes and truffles and dessert, we drove as the sun set and the clouds hung low and heavy, laden with gold not pasta, past a roadside ice-cream stand with lavender ice cream and we kept on driving and I think we made a specious though tiny mistake. Always stop for the (locally-grown) lavender ice cream, even after you've just finished a sumptuous dinner and have already had your dessert.
