Julia's Home – Clinton Hill, Brooklyn

Julia is the author and artist behind Salad for President, the popular blog turned best selling book of over 75 imaginative salad recipes created in collaboration with artists and creatives. Thumbing through her book makes us 1.) hungry 2.) consider how we’d prepare a salad worthy of a page in her book.

We photographed Julia in her Brooklyn townhouse, adorned in Catbird while preparing an early dinner for for her family.

The most meaningful piece of jewelry I own is

my grandmother's medal that she won for drawing in 1920. I wear it every day. It has her name, Pearl Levy, inscribed on the back.

The most challenging part of my job is

knowing when to stop working, put down the camera, and just enjoy the moment, the meal or the company.

The most exciting part of my job is

the access I have to fascinating people, whether they work in food or art.
