Still Life with Oyster Ring

Under a crystal cloche sits a still life with ripe fruits and an oyster with a tiny pearl. Evoking a detail from an illustration in Les Fleurs Animées, a 19th-century book of hand-colored wood engravings, gossamer spider webs with diamonds caught in their threads flank the scene of time forgotten—an everlasting party.

We are proud to introduce our second collection with The Metropolitan Museum of Art. These five pieces were brought to life through an exploration of the themes in The Costume Institute's spring 2024 exhibition Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. We contemplate a string of ephemeral moments, the passage of time, and the objects that live on.

While wearing the Still Life with Oyster Ring, please take care to avoid water and lotions. If condensation does form under the cloche, set the ring aside for a few hours to allow it to dry out.
